We at the Glam Life are big fans of good food, as there’s nothing more comforting and satisfying as a cooked to perfection meal. So to find out more about such eateries in the big city, we were invited by Madiha of the Ganache Cafe to try out her own venture.
As we walked our way inside the brightly lit cafe, the glass windows and door giving the perfect view from the outside, we couldn’t help hiding our excitement as everyone is very well aware of how seriously we take food.
The Ganache Cafe is a bright, airy three floored space structured immaculately in wood and plantation, giving just the right amount of closure to nature. and standing there as welcoming as possible was our host of the evening, the immaculate deer eyed beauty who’s smile stretched a million miles: Madiha, yes the girl who’s just too good in her craft and makes the most decadent desserts and cakes in Lahore, hands down!
Our decadent tasting started off with just the right dash of deliciousness. We dug into the Couscous Salad, the Potato Bacon Salad, Tuscan Pasta and Seasonal Fruit with chicken Salad that were all refreshing palette cleansers, but out most favourites were the Couscous and Seasonal Fruit that contained Quinoa, and boy are we fans of that?
There was a huge array of soups, from which we chose the Cream Of Spinach which was one of the best we’ve had yet. It was rich, creamy and intriguingly green, just the perfect boost of calcium we needed and was served with a sideline of bread sticks and herbed butter that we literally delved in the entire serving.
Choosing between the mains was a battle fought too difficulty too as the menu consisted of a variety of unique items that are not available at your average cafe’s, hence we decided to order things that would be totally new to try out.
Crispy chicken with noodles
Amongst the mains, we fell head over heels in love with the Spring Pizza that is not your regular cheesy pizza. Its the most perfect burst of flavour with a beetroot base, yes you read it right, beetroot with fragrant pesto and met in the mouth mozzarella and buffalo cheese garnished with our favourite vege’s: Spinach and Parsley! This definitely is something that everyone should try, as it’s a compelling contrast from your regular pizza- full of flavour and health (as we like to think, haha!)
And then comes the course we wait to during the beginning of the meal: Desserts!
If you know madiha, you know you’re in safe hands with her in the dessert department as she’s a pro on whipping you up the most delectable desserts. Madiha single-handedly handles a dessert bar by the name of Ganache that is something she’s been pouring her heart into for the past 5 years and has made a striking name for herself in the competitive confectionary industry of lahore. Now, she has opened up a cafe with her family where the desserts, the savoury, everything comes under one roof for Ganache fans like us to go crazy over.
So the dessert diva choose the best desserts she had in her menu for team Glam life and its safe to say we were not disappointed a tad bit. We laughed away with the scrumptious desserts that we choose from their vast menu ( Which we were the happiest about!) – we enjoyed a moist, and just the right amount of sweet tiramisu that was elegantly rich in coffee liquor and chocolate soaked into lady fingers- not only was the combination of chocolate and coffee lethal, it was chilled to perfection too. The second dessert was called Brandy Snaps that was a crisp biscuity disc crafted in a roll and was filled in with Ganache’s signature vanilla custard and whipped cream topped with the season’s ripest, juiciest strawberries- this dessert was YUM! The biscuit was a little too crisp, but tasted heavenly nonetheless! The third dessert. the hot cookie crumble was a delight too, just perfect for chocolate and nuts lovers.
Our final verdict on the Ganache Cafe most definitely is a YES! It’s a must-visit place for everyone who likes to eat quality food, something that is not available at every cafe in lahore unfortunately. Its ranked amongst those places in Lahore that are not hyped-up because of their location or crowd but are known for both:the food and location. I wish Madiha all the best on her family’s new venture and hope the quality remains the same, impeccable!
