When my elder sister got married, not did just i say goodbye to my sister but also to some of her traits; to my relief, it wasn’t saying goodbye to too many of them because mostly were the ones she inherited right down from my mother. Yes, the reason you’re reading this blog post: Home interiors.
When you talk about my mothers skills, she can transform any space into a home. Well, a home straight outta ‘Elle Decor’ and ‘Architectural Homes’. And lets just say my sister’s no less.
She had been planning her two little angel’s nursery for quite some time and quite literally flew tits and bits from all over the world (by spending her 9 months delivery stress on those online shopping websites, after all, shopping is the best stress buster!). Then, as my mother and my sister both were so dedicated, we all flew to Dubai to get hold of all the major pieces for the nursery as they had a theme and colour board in mind; grey as It’s A BOY and because it’s opposed to blue which is too cliché.
She wanted her two little boy’s room to be modern and chic, while attaining practically and it’s charm of being a nursery. And alas, like light at the end of the tunnel for me, i saw her transform an empty room like a gene into a nursery worth ogling over as home interior is totally beyond me, like fashion is to her!
Her theme was pretty adorable: Bunny Rabbit’s and teddy bears as the little one (not to little anymore), a 2 year old is obsessed with stuffed toys and animals, thus this heaven was created for him to nap into the lap of fabulousness and cuteness. To put in the right amount of maturity and chic-ness together, the bed spread, pillows and cushions were bought from Polo by Ralph Lauren, and the Bed, settee and three seater is from Ahad home in Lahore.
P.S. Can you spot those mini Dolce and Gabbana figures lying on the side table?
Now, let me take you to my favourite corner of the nursery, something my sister designed from scratch! Say hello to the mini wing-chairs and that two-seater tufted sofa’s for the lil’ ones to sit on. The bunny rabbit throw and cushions are from Mama’s and Papa’s whereas the furniture is from Pottery Barn.
Yes, this is where the little babies chill on their play dates! I know you’re ‘Aww-ing and snap-shoting’, i was pretty awestruck myself once i saw my sisters thought process come into finishing, because i literally saw her pick random pieces at EVERY baby store in Dubai and London, and brain-storm with the staff at Pottery barn to bring together what she had in mind with this sitting in particular! (Trust me, if you’re not into interior shopping, you DO-NOT want to tag along and stroll around each baby store the mall stocks. I also hope she doesn’t read this bit!)
Now lets take a look at the little ones crib, yes the new born we just welcomed Alhumdulillah!
Isn’t it adorableeeee? A cute little crib for an even cuter angel!
This wall was something my sister calls the ‘Infinity Wall’ – these pictures are of my baby number 1 my first nephew, and now that the second one has come, this wall will bear pictures of him too by adding new frames into the same wall that was left for this purpose only. I feel there’s nothing more precious than having a wall that collects memories off all the siblings from their infant days to their growth!
Happy to say that my sister’s got quite a number of skills but this is one i’m so proud of as not everyone attains such impeccable taste! Her keen interest for architecture which she studied for a year before getting married sure does reflect in every inch of her home as she plans everything in detail, and because of that everyone trusts her choice implicitly. What can i say, well done, Sars!
